Unpainted Arizona started as a vision by Rob Pendleton and Kenny Reynolds around late 1996 – early 1997. The two were in a Band called Big Boys at the time, but were looking for a change. The original project featured Jeff Coleman on guitar & vocals (you can find his current band The Feeders on our MySpace friends list). Jeff & Kenny were high school friends & band mates – Jeff is actually credited with coining the band’s name, which was taken from the movie Raising Arizona. The trio had several rehearsals at the Little Rock Air Force base, but never played a live show together. The idea was reborn after John King joined the Big Boys. Initially a fourth member (Alan Guthrie) was brought in on guitar, but it was more than evident that this band was meant to be a three-piece. The band played almost non-stop in Hot Springs, Arkansas - Little Rock, Arkansas - Jacksonville, Arkansas – Conway, Arkansas and surrounding areas until Kenny moved to Albuquerque, NM in May of 1998.

Later that same year, Kenny moved back to Arkansas and rejoined the Big Boys – who had hired Chuck Driver to play guitar. John had moved on, and was playing in a band called April’s Fool, while Rob was taking a break. During the next year and a half Kenny was introduced to Tommy Barber – a drummer Chuck had befriended through his job at a music store in Batesville, AR. Tommy had filled in on drums on occasion with the Big Boys – at that point he was playing with Chris Claude in a band known as Irish Redd. The final split from the Big Boys came in the spring of 2000 – the new Unpainted Arizona lineup consisted of Chuck, Kenny, Rob, and John. In 2001 Tommy began filling in for Rob on select weekends, and was later made a permanent member.In August 2003 John decided to take a break from the club scene. The band switched gears, and brought in Tommy’s friend Chris to fill the void. In doing so, the name of the band was changed from Unpainted Arizona to Irish Redd. This line-up lasted for just over a year – when in October 2004 Chris decided to take a break of his own, leaving the band a trio yet again. Shortly thereafter came another name change to Colour By Numbers.

Colour By Numbers lasted almost two years. The band had flirted with the idea of adding a fourth member – they even contacted John about coming back to no avail. In a strange twist of fate, Kenny received a call from John on August 4, 2006. John told him that if they were still looking for a second guitarist he was ready. With the best known lineup of Unpainted Arizona back together it was only natural that they change the band name one last time – hopefully

Charlotte Taylor and Gypsy Rain
Vocalist and songwriter, Charlotte Taylor originally from Heber Springs, now Little Rock, Arkansas put together her first band , Project Blue in 1993. Charlotte Taylor recorded a CD in West Memphis entitled “Taylor and Martinez” released in 2000 on Hi Records. With great original songs that range from soul ballads to shuffling blues, a live show that includes funk and jazz, Charlotte Taylor and her band have performed at the International Blues Challenge, King Biscuit Blues Festival, Blues In the Natural State, The Riverwalk Bluesfest, Spa City Blues Festival, Blues Eureka, and were runners up in the Arkansas Times Musician’s Showcase 2005.

Charlotte Taylor and Gypsy Rain have performed at many clubs in the midsouth including on Beale St. at B.B. King’s, The Rum Boogie Cafe, Blues Hall, King’s Palace, and in Little Rock at Sticky Fingerz, Juanita’s, the Underground Pub, and are regulars in NLR at Cornerstone and Parrot Beach Cafe. The group has opened for blues greats like The Holmes Brothers, Michael Burks, Guitar Shorty, John Lee Hooker Jr, Omar and the Howlers, Malford Milligan, Duwayne Burnside, Buckwheat Zydeco and more!

Through writing and performing original music as well as interpreting crowd favorites, the band has developed a strong following.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, John has spent his life perfecting his vocal style. Influenced by musicians such as Al Green, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown, John has developed a style all his own with roots based in blues, soul, jazz, and R&B. He has won numerous awards including the Arkansas Musician’s Showcase, Arkansas River Blues Society Talent Contest, and the Sonny Boy Blues Society Talent Contest. John has been voted Best Male Vocalist in the Little Rock Free Press Reader’s Poll and is regularly voted as a Best Band by the readers the Arkansas Times in their “Best of Arkansas” issue. He has performed at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Helena, AR, the International Blues Challenge, and the Crossroads Music Festival in Memphis, TN. But perhaps the late, great, Godfather of Soul James Brown summed it up best. After seeing John perform in May of 2003, he told John “Boy when you sing, you sing the white right offa you!!”

Hello Everyone,

This is our agencies first blog to tell you about some of the great entertainment we offer and a little about us as well. Many years ago we started Little Rock Entertainment Agency because musicians, DJs and other entertainers needed work. So a small group of musicians formed the agency and Wayne Willems the master mind we like to call him, created on-line campaigns to increase customer leads and it has been working. Every year as people get on-line to search for entertainment in Arkansas, our business increases and that is great.

But, there is an unfortunate to this great ideal, others like to follow the leader I might say. Here in Central Arkansas our agency has hired out hundreds of entertainers for events all over Arkansas. Some entertainers are a little more money driven than others, so they see what our agency has accumulated as an on-line business and they try to create their own on-line business. Along thinking they have gained the knowledge to do so and that is okay, but they really don’t have the knowledge or the manpower to proved entertainers statewide. But they do mis-inform the on-line public like they are one of the most requested services in Arkansas and it is simply not true.

The reason we are providing this information is not just so you will choose our agency, it’s because we care about the quality of entertainment for you’re event. That is most important to our agency as I am sure it is to you as well. Here’s a note one of the entertainers we helped and even hand -picked their equipment and trained, has created a website and named it similar to our company name. So, we have kinda seen it all as our company has been growing every year.
